St. Lucy’s Priory High School is fully accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA) , the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) of the Accrediting Commission of Schools in the U.S., and affiliated with the Department of Education of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year is 324.
The average class size is approximately 25 students per class. Generally, there are fewer students in Honors/AP classes. The student to teacher ratio is 15:1
Placement in honors is determined by performance on the placement exam and some placement assessments given by individual St. Lucy’s departments, as well as verified by previous coursework and grades earned in middle school.
Yes, students will have the same academic counselor for all four years of their high school career. This allows for the academic counselor to build rapport with their students, as well as to know the specific educational goals for each individual student. Students may formally request a change for good cause.
All students are encouraged to see their academic counselor regularly. Students may make an appointment or stop in before/ after school or during lunch. The counselor also makes an effort to see each student, if at all possible.  The Freshmen and new students are also seen in small groups and given further instruction on the procedure. The school counselor offers guidance and does not accept the role of a personal counselor.
Parents are welcome to schedule an appointment with their student’s academic counselor at a mutually convenient time for both parent and the academic counselor. Parents are also invited to attend formal meetings throughout the four years to discuss schedules, graduation, and the college admissions process.
A student should seek clarity of teacher comments if not understood in a class as the need may arise. All St. Lucy’s Priory High School teachers hold office hours throughout the week to provide additional assistance to students. One-on-one tutoring is scheduled at a mutually convenient time for both the student and teacher. Students are encouraged to arrange this tutoring with specific teachers directly. Students that are National Honor Society members also offer tutoring at specific dates and times.
The St. Lucy’s Priory High School counseling department provides full-service college admissions support to all students. Students are encouraged to visit their counselors often, both alone and with parents to create a realistic and comprehensive college list. With complete support from beginning to end, students are given a specific timeline and sequence to prepare for college admissions. All students graduate with the necessary A-G courses required for admission to the UC and Cal State systems.
99% of students in St. Lucy’s Priory High School’s class of 2021 continued their education at college. SLPHS is a college preparatory high school. When students graduate from our school they have not only exceeded the state guidelines for high school graduates, they have also met Cal State and UC course requirements.
St. Lucy’s seniors are accepted into the top colleges and universities in the country. 96% were accepted into a 4-year, 3% were accepted into a 2-year, and 1% joined a branch of military service. St. Lucy’s graduates attend colleges including; UCLA, Harvard, University of Notre Dame, Loyola Marymount University, USC, George Washington, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside to name a few.

We have an alternating block schedule:

-ABCD Block days run from 8:05 AM - 2:30 PM

-EFG Block days run from 8:05 AM - 1:15 PM

St. Lucy’s Priory High School has a dress and personal appearance code. All students are required to purchase a uniform from Dennis Uniform Company.
Once students arrive on campus, they may not leave the campus without permission form the attendance office. School personnel and our campus security are on duty during the hours students are on campus. Also, all visitors to the campus are required to sign in and obtain a visitor’s badge from the front office.
Yes, parents, or guardians, are required to work a minimum of 25 service hours each year. This program is of tremendous value and importance as it allows parents to become acquainted with each other in a commuter school. The work and meetings provide meaningful support in service rather than out-sourcing labor that needs to be accomplished for the welfare of the students of the school. Most fundraisers are organized and supported through the work of parents with the direction of the Advancement Department.
St. Lucy’s Priory High School uses the High School Placement Test (HSPT). The results of the exam are used to help place your daughter in the most appropriate classes for their freshman year. All testing materials will be supplied and no calculators are allowed.
Families with serious financial need may apply for tuition assistance through FACTS, the tuition assistance processing company. Applications and the fee are submitted online to FACTS, the tuition assistance processing company, after the enrollment process is complete. Applications are strictly confidential. Family names or personal information is known only by the Tuition Assistance Committee or the respective scholarship fund committees, if applicable. Award amounts are annually limited by available resources.
Yes! We accept students of different faiths into St. Lucy’s Priory High School. We seek to meet each girl where she is in her own personal faith journey. The student is required to take a Religion course each year, attend school Masses and services, and participate in other meaningful experiences as charitable assistance to the needy. Christian values and morality are taught through the teachings of the Catholic faith, and are the foundation of all our programs. Required participation for students include attending the Religion course, Masses, services and other religious activities. A student and her family must be comfortable with these requirements as they support each young girl to grow into her own potential womanhood.
