The weekend of October 18 - 20, the St. Lucy's Debate Team participated in the Westminster Online Debate Tournament and competed in the Varsity division. They competed on line and was operating out of Damien High School from Friday to Sunday. Out of 55 entries from schools all over the country, Andie Galvan and Leah Ileto had a record of 3 wins and 3 losses, while Lindsey Leano and Chanel Do had a record of 2 wins and 4 losses. Unfortunately, both pairs failed to advance to the Elimination round.
On September 28 - 30, the debate team participated in the Varsity Division of the Jack Howe Memorial Tournament in California State University - Long Beach. Out of 94 entries, Andie and Leah had a record of 2 wins and 4 losses, while Lindsey and Chanel also had a record of 2 wins and 4 losses.
This weekend, the team traveled to Las Vegas for the Meadows School Invitational Tournament (October 25-27). We expect another tough competition as the girls compete in the Varsity Division against schools from the West Coast. As the team grows in its experiences, our Regents continue to compete and grow, as they face fellow Sophomore debaters and more experienced Junior and Senior debaters in Varsity.
We are so proud of our Regent Debate Team as they continue to Make It Happen!
