Our St. Lucy's Debate Team competed at the Cal Invitational UC Berkeley Debate Tournament in the JV Division this weekend (February 17-19). The team included Leah Ileto, Andie Galvan, Chanel Do, and Lindsey Leano.
Andie Galvan and Leah Ileto made it to the Octofinals round and finished 9th out of 67 teams from the West Coast. Leah was 18th speaker and Andie was 21st speaker out of 133 students in the Debate Speaker Awards. Lindsey Leano and Chanel Do also had 2 wins in the Prelims Round.
Individually, Leah was 18th speaker, Andie was 21st, Chanel finished 48th and Lindsey 58th out of 134 students. Overall, it was a great debate weekend for our brother school teammates from Damien, they too placed well.
The next event for our Regent Debate Team is the National Championship at the Woodward Academy in Atlanta, Georgia next month. Special thanks to Mr. Paredes for all of his guidance, coaching, and support to the studens of the Regent Debate Team.
