Track and Field
Coach Matt Ebiner ran track and cross country at Bishop Amat High School, Mt. SAC, and UCLA. After college he continued running, rising to the national level in various distance races. He twice qualified for and competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials for the marathon (1988, 1992). As a Masters runner (over 50) he placed 3rd in the World Mountain Running Championships in Italy (2011) and won his age-group at the Boston Marathon in 2013. He coached track and cross country at Mt. San Antonio College from 1983-1995, coaching the men’s team to one state cross country title, and four times to a 2nd-place finish. Coach Ebiner is a great admirer of hard work, and loves to guide and inspire athletes to reach their potential.
Coach Ebiner comes from a large family (one of 15 brothers and sisters). He is the older brother of Annie Ebiner, who was a 3-time state champ while running for St. Lucy’s in the 1990s.
Coach Ebiner has been a geography professor at El Camino College for 35 years, has traveled to 154 countries of the world, organizes and leads international tours for a travel company he founded and owns (GeoTours), loves photography, nature, and being a husband and dad.
