Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment: Women’s Equality Day, 2020

On this Women’s Equality Day, 2020, we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, insuring women’s right to vote and remember Pope Francis’ words:

“The feminine genius is needed wherever we make important decisions.”

“It is necessary to widen the space for more incisive feminine presence

           in the church.”

And so we pray:

Let us pray for our students and women everywhere who have an inexhaustible reservoir of possibility...desires and hopes...all struggling to find expression.

Let us pray for our students and women everywhere who are striving to BECOME…their best selves...to have a story...a song...to be known and to know.

Let us pray for our students and women everywhere who believe in something...who stand for something...live for something...run toward something precious and important in life.

Let us pray for our students and women everywhere who have problems and fears, do not always feel good about what they are doing...but are endowed with great toughness in the face of adversity...and able to survive great difficulties.

Let us pray for our students and women everywhere who do something well...
something they can do better than just about anyone else...and need the opportunity to do it.

Let us pray for our students and women everywhere who live not just for themselves, but for others...those who comfort, understand and know what is needed in life.

And, as we celebrate this 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, let us pray that all women will continue making the dream of equality a reality. Amen.
