Opening Prayer
In the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Dear Lord, as we begin a special week in our Saint Lucy’s community allow us to remember our St. Lucy’s sisters, both present and past, those who are still with us, and those who have gone on to join you in your kingdom. We thank you for allowing us to share in a community regardless of the circumstances and for always walking with us despite all of hardships. Continue to bless us with your gifts and presence in our lives. 
St Lucy, Pray for Us.

The history behind Alumnae Memorial Week
Community and Benedictine Tradition in Alumni 
Alumni often go back for events and such
In 1965, the first St. Lucy’s graduating class consisting of only 19 girls completed their senior year. Over the last 58 years, many things have changed but what has remained the same is the bond that the graduates of St. Lucy’s share with each other. These bonds of sisterhood are formed and maintained through the various traditions that make St. Lucy’s so special. Long after graduation, the alumnae of St. Lucy’s remain connected and they often return to campus for our annual events such as Christmas Boutique and BASH. The memories of former St. Lucy’s students both alive and passed are commemorated through our efforts to continually recognize those who walked the halls of St. Lucy’s before us. Alumnae Memorial Week was created as a way for current students to remember our fellow regent sisters.

Meaning behind Alumnae Memorial Week
St. Lucy’s Alumnae Memorial Week has always held a special place in the hearts of all St. Lucy’s students. This week was created in order to honor all Alumnae of St. Lucy’s and their legacy within our community. Honoring our past Regent Sisters is so important in maintaining our lifelong bonds as one St. Lucy’s family. All the activities held during this week are meant to bring the student body closer together, while having tons of fun at the same time. Penny Wars is the week’s main event, and this is where each class competes against each other by trying to have the highest positive amount of combined money from their pennies and silvers buckets. Silvers cancel out pennies, so the goal of each class is to have the highest amount of pennies possible! All money generated from this event goes to Junior Scholarships. Alumnae Memorial Week’s purpose of remembrance and recognition is honored by all students and means a great deal to all who have ever walked the halls of St. Lucy’s.

Being a St. Lucy’s regent means you are a part of an everlasting sisterhood that will continuously support you and your loved ones. During Alumnae Memorial Week, we take a moment to remember all of our fellow regents who have joined God and become angels. Our St. Lucy’s community sends love and healing to their families and friends. We would like to ask you to please take a moment of silence to pray for them and their loved ones.

Past and present, the sense of sisterhood at St. Lucy’s helps foster a strong community between all the students, faculty, staff, and Sisters. This year the connection between students has been evident in new ways unlike any other before. St. Lucy’s has maintained this sense of community by connecting each other through a strong social media presence, virtual class meetings, club meetings, and prayer services. Students’ creativity shines through each of these events, and allows students to stay connected to one another. One of the most unique things about the school is its sisterhood. Although we are not able to gather together in-person, the friendships that have been made at St. Lucy’s can withstand anything. Alumnae Memorial Week teaches us that community and sisterhood will truly last a lifetime.

Please continue to bless us as current regents, alumni, and the alumni who have passed. b Please Lord, we pray for the success of alumni memorial week and that we are able to please you and bring honor to the name of all Regent students. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
