Welcome to St. Lucy's Priory Preschool
Hello and welcome to the St. Lucy’s Benedictine Child Development Center. My name is Sister Patricia Schneider. I am the director of St. Lucy’s Preschool since the opening in January of 1991.
Our goal for all children enrolled in our program is to provide a nurturing, playful and stimulating environment where they can learn through varieties of experiences and be cared for while they are away from their home and family.
The surroundings of St. Lucy’s Preschool lend themselves to teaching children a profound appreciation of God’s amazing Creation. Often there are deer that have made their home in the foothills of our back yard. Our playground area has a variety of structures, a large sand area for creative play, a grassy area, a trike path and two playhouses. We also have a large covered patio where children have access to table top building and other hands on activities for windy, cold, or rainy days or to accommodate children who may need a little less active play on any given day.
From a safety perspective, we are set back from the busy road of Sierra Madre Avenue with a beautiful view of Glendora to the south from our front porch. Our playground looks out north onto the foothills which are green year round.
Religion is an important component of our program. In each classroom, the day begins with prayer time. Our meals begin with prayer and spontaneously throughout the day stories and songs that include spiritual themes are a part of the Curriculum. All prayers are age appropriate. As of the school year beginning August, 30, 2010, we are using the RCL Benziger Religion Program for Preschool Children ages 2 through 5.
